
To make your Halloween crocheting even more fun, this doll will be a big hit with your little ones.
Topsy-Turvy Witch Doll
Materials:
Worsted weight yarn:
100 yards black
100 yards baby blue
35 yards purple
35 yards white
20 yards light green
20 yards ivory
25 yards yellow
5 yards orange
Size G (4.0 mm) crochet hook
Yarn needle
Fiberfill
12 mm safety eyes
Doll measures approximately 12” tall
Bobble St: All in same st, (Insert hook into st, yo, pull through) 3 times, yo, pull through all loops.
Directions:
BODY:
Rnd 1: With green yarn, ch 2 (or magic ring), 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Do not join. Work in continuous rnds throughout unless otherwise specified.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st (12 sc).
Rnd 3: *Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st,* repeat around (18 sc).
Rnd 4: *Sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st,* repeat around (24 sc).
Rnd 5: *Sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st,* repeat around (30 sc).
Rnds 6-8: Sc in each st.
Rnd 9: Sc in next 15 sts, ch 4, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 2 ch (nose), sc in next 14 sts.
Rnd 10: Sc in each st. Be sure to work behind the nose so that it extends outward from face.
Rnds 11-12: Sc in each st. Insert safety eyes at Rnd 8 approximately 4 sts apart.
Rnd 13: *Sc in next 3 sts, dec,* repeat around (24 sc). Start stuffing body.
Rnd 14: *Sc in next 2 sts, dec,* repeat around (18 sc).
Rnd 15: Sc in each st. Fasten off green yarn. Stuff head.
Rnd 16: Attach black yarn, sc in each st.
Rnd 17: *Sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st,* repeat around (24 sc).
Rnd 18: *Sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st,* repeat around (30 sc).
Rnds 19-27: Sc in each st. Fasten off black yarn. Stuff body.
Rnd 28: Attach blue yarn, sc in each st.
Rnds 29-36: Sc in each st.
Rnd 37: *Sc in next 3 sts, dec,* repeat around (24 sc).
Rnd 38: *Sc in next 2 sts, dec,* repeat around (18 sc).
Rnd 39: Sc in each st. Fasten off blue.
Rnd 40: Attach ivory, sc in each st.
Rnd 41: Sc in each st.
Rnd 42: *Sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st,* repeat around (24 sc).
Rnd 43: *Sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st,* repeat around (30 sc).
Rnds 44-45: Sc in each st.
Rnd 46: Sc in next 15 sts, bobble st for nose in next st, sc in next 14 sts. The bobble st should line up with the nose sts in on the green section at Rnd 9.
Rnds 47-48: Sc in each st. Fasten off ivory.
Rnd 49: Attach yellow yarn for wig cap. *Sc in next 3 sts, dec,* repeat around (24 sc). Insert safety eyes at Rnd 47, 4 sts apart. Stuff body and head. Be sure to stuff neck firmly to support head.
Rnd 50: *Sc in next 2 sts, dec,* repeat around (18 sc).
Rnd 51: *Sc in next st, dec,* repeat around (12 sc). Finish stuffing head.
Rnd 52: Dec around (6 sc). Fasten off yellow yarn leaving 6” length. Close with ultimate finish.
ARMS:
Make 2 with ivory and blue yarn, 2 with green and black yarn.
Rnd 1: With ivory/green yarn, ch 2 (or magic circle), 6 sc in 2nd ch. Do not join.
Rnd 2: *Sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st,* repeat once (8 sc).
Rnd 3: Sc in each st. Join with sl st. Fasten off ivory/green.
Rnds 4-10: Attach blue/black yarn. Sc in each st. At end of Rnd 10, join with sl st and fasten off leaving 9” length. Sew to sides of body with top of arm 2 rnds below neckline on each side of body.
HAIR:
Cut approximately 70 pieces of yellow yarn 10” long. Fold one strand of yarn in half, insert hook into wig cap, pull yarn through st, pull both pieces of yarn through loop, pull tight. Repeat until wig cap is filled.

BLUE SKIRT:
Rnd 1: With blue yarn, leaving a 12” length for sewing, ch 30. Join with a sl st. Ch 1, 2 dc in each ch, join with sl st (60 dc).
Rnds 2-3: Ch 1, dc in each st. Join with sl st.
Rnd 4: Ch 1, BLO dc in each st. Join with sl st.
Rnds 5-6: Ch 1, dc in each st. Join with sl st.
Rnd 7: Ch 1, BLO dc in each st. Join with sl st.
Rnds 8-9: Ch 1, dc in each st. Join with sl st.
Rnd 10: Ch 1, BLO dc in each st. Join with sl st.
Rnds 11-12: Ch 1, dc in each st. Join with sl st. Fasten off blue yarn.
Turn skirt upside down. Join white yarn in front lp of Rnd 3, *sc, sk 1 st, 5 dc in next st, sk 1 st,* repeat around. Join with sl st. Fasten off.
Repeat on front lps of Rnds 6, 9, and 12.
BLACK SKIRT:
Rnd 1: With black yarn, leaving a 12” length for sewing, ch 30. Join with a sl st. Ch 1, 2 dc in each ch, join with sl st (60 dc).
Rnds 2-3: Ch 1, dc in each st. Join with sl st.
Rnd 4: Ch 1, BLO dc in each st. Join with sl st.
Rnds 5-6: Ch 1, dc in each st. Join with sl st.
Rnd 7: Ch 1, BLO dc in each st. Join with sl st.
Rnds 8-9: Ch 1, dc in each st. Join with sl st.
Rnd 10: Ch 1, BLO dc in each st. Join with sl st.
Rnds 11-12: Ch 1, dc in each st. Join with sl st. Fasten off blue yarn.
Turn skirt upside down. Join purple yarn in front lp of Rnd 3, *sc in next 2 sts, ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from hook,* repeat around. Join with sl st. Fasten off.
Repeat on front lps of Rnds 6 and 9.
Block skirts so shells and picots lay flat. Place skirts with wrong sides facing and Rnds 12 matching. White shells will extend out from the bottom, making a petticoat on the black witch side. Sew skirt pieces together using BLO of Rnd 12.
HAT:
Rnd 1: With black yarn, ch 2 (or magic circle), 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Do not join.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st (6 sc).
Rnd 3: Sc in each st.
Rnd 4: 2 sc in each st (12 sc).
Rnd 5: Sc in each st.
Rnd 6: *Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st,* repeat around (18 sc).
Rnd 7: Sc in each st.
Rnd 8: *Sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st,* repeat around (24 sc).
Rnd 9: Sc in each st.
Rnd 10: *Sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st,* repeat around (30 sc). Join with sl st.
Rnds 11-12: With orange yarn, sc in each st. Join with sl st at end of Rnd 12. Fasten off orange.
Rnd 13: With black yarn working in FLO, *sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st,* repeat around (40 sc).
Rnd 14: working in both lps, *sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st,* repeat around (50 sc).
Sew hat to witch’s head.
