I Love This Cotton worsted weight yarn:
15 yards red
5 yards green
20 yards white
1 yard black
10 yards Antique Gold
Size G (4.0 mm) crochet hook
Fiberfill
Gauge: 9 sts = 2”, 11 rows = 2”
Ornament measures approximately 3” diameter by 3.5” tall.
Rnd 1: With red yarn, ch 2 (or magic circle), 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook (6 sc). Do not join. Work in continuous rnds unless otherwise specified.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st (12 sc).
Rnd 3: *Sc in next st, inc in next st,* repeat around (18 sc).
Rnd 4: *Sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st,*repeat around (24 sc).
Rnd 5: *Sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st,* repeat around (30 sc).
Rnd 6: *Sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st,* repeat around (36 sc). Join with sl st. Fasten off red yarn.
Rnd 7: Attach green yarn. *Sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc in next st,* repeat around (42 sc). Join with sl st. Fasten off green yarn.
Rnd 8: Attach white yarn. Sc in each st. Do not join. Sc in next 21 sc to position dog head at front of ornament and joining sts at back.
Rnd 9: Sc in each st around: 7 white sc, 1 Antique gold sc, 2 white sc, 1 Antique gold sc, 19 white sc, 1 Antique gold sc, 2 white sc, 1 Antique gold sc, 8 white sc (42 sc).
Rnd 10: Sc in each st around: 7 white sc, 1 Antique gold sc, 2 white sc, 1 Antique gold sc, 19 white sc, 1 Antique gold sc, 2 white sc, 1 Antique gold sc, 8 white sc (42 sc).
Rnd 11: Sc in each st around: 6 white, 30 Antique gold, 6 white.
Rnd 12: Sc in each st around: 6 white, 31 Antique gold, 5 white.
Rnd 13: Sc in each st around: 6 white, 34 Antique gold, 2 white.
Rnd 14: Sc in each st around: 6 white, 35 Antique gold, 1 white.
Rnd 15: Sc in each st around: 5 white, 35 Antique gold, 2 white.
Rnd 16: Sc in each st around: 4 white, 2 Antique gold, 28 white, 4 Antique gold, 4 white.
Rnd 17: Sc in each st around: 4 white, 1 Antique gold, 29 white, 4 Antique gold, 4 white.
Rnd 18: Sc in each st around: 4 white, 1 Antique gold, 30 white, 2 Antique gold, 5 white. Fasten off Antique gold.
Rnd 19: Using only white yarn, sc in each st. sc in next 21 sc to put joining sts at back. Join with sl st. Fasten off white.
Rnd 20: Attach green yarn. *Inv dec, sc in next 5 sts,* repeat around (36 sc). Join with sl st. Fasten off green.
Rnd 21: Attach red yarn. *Inv dec, sc in next 4 sts,* repeat around (30 sc).
Rnd 22: *Inv dec, sc in next 3 sts,* repeat around (24 sc).
Rnd 23: *Inv dec, sc in next 2 sts,* repeat around (18 sc). Stuff firmly.
Rnd 24: *Inv dec, sc in next sts,* repeat around (12 sc).
Rnd 25: Inv dec 6 times (6 sc). Join with sl st. Fasten off leaving 12” length. Close with ult fin. Use remaining length of yarn to make a loop for hanging.
EAR:
With Antique gold yarn, ch 3, sc in 2nd ch from hook, 4 sc in last ch, sc in last lp on opposite side of foundation ch (6 sc). Fasten off leaving 4” length. Sew ear to Row 18 at top of head.
With black yarn, make French knot at tip of nose and another in Rnd 16 for eye.
