Goldenstar Beanie Crochet Pattern

Goldenstar Beanie

Materials:

Lion Brand Wool Ease DK yarn:

110 [120] yards Cream

20 [30] yards Goldenrod

Size G (4.0 mm) and H (5.0 mm) crochet hooks

Yarn needle

Faux fur pompom

 

Gauge for H hook: 21 hdc = 4”, 12 rows = 4”

Teen size measures 19” circumference with Adult size (21”) in [ ].

STITCHES:

Stacked sc: After completing a row of dc, ch-1, sc in first st, pick up lp in side of this sc, sc again. This will count as the first dc of each row.

Cluster st: *yo, insert hook, pull through, yo, pull through 2 loops* 3 times, yo and pull through all loops. Side cluster st: ch 3 off top of cluster st, *yo, insert hook, pull through, yo, pull through 2 loops* 2 times, yo and pull through all loops.

Directions:

Rnd 1: With H hook and Cream yarn, ch 85, join with sl st. Work stacked sc in first ch, dc in next 84 ch (85 dc). Do not turn.

Rnd 2: Stacked sc, *ch 1, sk 1, dc,* repeat around.

Rnd 3: Stacked sc, *dc in ch-1 sp, dc in dc,* repeat around.

Row 4: Switch to Goldenrod yarn, stacked sc, ch 1, sk 1 st, *cluster next st, sk 1 st, cluster next st, ch 3, 2 dc cluster (side cluster) in top of 2nd cluster st, sk 2 sts,* repeat across ending with dc in stacked sc.

Row 5: Stacked sc, ch 3, *cluster in first cluster, sk next cluster, sk side cluster, ch 4,* repeat across ending with 2 ch, dc in top of stacked sc.

Row 6: Switch to Cream yarn, stacked sc, 3 dc in ch-2 sp, *dc in top of cluster, 4 dc in ch-4 sp,* repeat across ending with 2 dc in ch-2 sp, dc in top of stacked sc.

NOTE: Working these dc around the ch rather than in each individual ch will help to hide the pink yarn on this row.

Rnd 7: Stacked sc, *ch 1, sk 1, dc,* repeat around.

Rnd 8: Stacked sc, *dc in ch-1 sp, dc in dc,* repeat around.

Rnd 9: *Ch 3, sk 1 st, sl st,* repeat around.

Rnd 10: 2 sc in each ch-3 sp.

Rnd 11: Stacked sc, dc in each st (85 dc).

Rnd 12: Stacked sc, dc in next 4 sts, *dec, dc in next 5 sts,* repeat around (73 dc).

Rnd 13: Stacked sc, dc in next 3 sts, *dec, dc in next 4 sts,* repeat around (61 dc).

Rnd 14: Stacked sc, dc in next 2 sts, *dec, dc in next 3 sts,* repeat around (49 dc).

Rnd 15: Stacked sc, dc in next st, *dec, dc in next 2 sts,* repeat around (37 dc).

Rnd 16: Stacked sc, *dec, dc in next st,* repeat around (25 dc).

Rnd 17: Stacked sc, dec around (13 dc). Close with ult fin.

RIBBING:

Return to beginning to work from Rnd 1 of hat. Attach Cream yarn.

Rnds 1-2[3]: Ch 1, *fp dc, bp dc,* repeat around.

Weave in all ends. Attach pompom to top of hat.
