Whether you’re using it to store keys, coins, or other small items, this tray makes a great decorative piece for any football lover’s space. Plus, it’s a fantastic handmade gift idea for sports enthusiasts! I think I’ll make a few more for next year’s super bowl party!
Materials:
Cotton worsted weight yarn:
45 yards brown
5 yards white
Size G (4.0 mm) crochet hook
Gauge: 4 sc = 1”, 5 rows = 1”
Tray measures approximately 5.5″ x 4″
Directions:
Row 1: With brown yarn, ch 2, 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, inc in first st, sc in next st, inc in last st (5 sc).
Row 3: Ch 1, turn, inc in first st, sc in next 3 sts, inc in last st (7 sc).
Row 4: Ch 1, turn, inc in first st, sc in next 5 sts, inc in last st (9 sc). Switch to white yarn.
Row 5: Ch 1, turn, inc in first st, sc in next 7 sts, inc in last st (11 sc).
Row 6: Ch 1, turn, inc in first st, sc in next 9 sts, inc in last st (13 sc). Fasten off white. Pick up brown yarn.
Row 7: Ch 1, turn, inc in first st, sc in next 11 sts, inc in last st (15 sc).
Rows 8-17: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st.
Row 18: Ch 1, turn, dec, sc in next 11 sts, dec (13 sc). Switch to white yarn.
Row 19: Ch 1, turn, dec, sc in next 9 sts, dec (11 sc).
Row 20: Ch 1, turn, dec, sc in next 7 sts, dec (9 sc). Fasten off white. Pick up brown yarn.
Row 21: Ch 1, turn, dec, sc in next 5 sts, dec (7 sc).
Row 22: Ch 1, turn, dec, sc in next 3 sts, dec (5 sc).
Row 23: Ch 1, turn, dec, sc in next st, dec (3 sc).
Row 24: Ch 1, turn, sc last 3 sts tog (1 sc).
Ch 1, do not turn. Sc around entire piece with 2 sc in each end, changing colors as needed. If needed, add extra sc to ensure piece lays flat. Join with sl st.
Side Wall:
Rnd 1: Turn piece with wrong side facing, working in BLO, *sc in next 8 sts, inc,* repeat around.
Rnds 2-4: Working in both lps, sc in each st. Join with sl st. Fasten off at end of Rnd 4 (or to desired height).
Rnd 5: Ch 1, crab st in each st around. Join with sl st.
