One of my favorite things about seasonal crochet is getting to create projects that are only used for a special time of year. Halloween is the perfect excuse to pull out the spooky colors, embrace the creepy-cute designs, and make something a little different!
This Spider Trick-or-Treat Bag is a great addition to your Halloween crochet collection. It also makes a thoughtful handmade gift for a child who loves Halloween, spiders, or collecting candy.
And let’s be honest: a handmade candy bag might not make the candy disappear any slower, but it certainly makes trick-or-treating more fun!
Finished bag measures approximately 3” tall by 3” wide (not including legs).
Materials:
Worsted weight yarn
40 yards MC
Crochet hook size H (5.0 mm)
Wiggle eyes
Directions:
Rnd 1: With MC yarn, ch 2. Sc 6 in second ch from hook. Do not join.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc (12 sc).
Rnd 3: *1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc,* repeat around (18 sc).
Rnd 4: *1 sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat around (24 sc).
Rnd 5: *1 sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat around (30 sc).
Rnd 6: *Sc in next 2 sc, ch 11, sc in back lp of 2nd ch and next 9 ch, sc in next sc or Rnd 5,* repeat 7 times (for a total of 8 legs), sc in last 6 sts.
Rnd 7: Sc in each st, allowing legs to fall on right side of work.
Rnds 8-11: Sc in each st. Join with sl st.
Rnd 12: *Sc, ch 1, skip 1 sc,* repeat around. Join. Fasten off yarn.
Drawstring:
With MC yarn, make a chain 12″ long and knot both ends. Pull through loops made in Rnd 12 of bag. Weave in all ends.
Glue eyes to front of spider.
