Materials:

Small amounts of cotton worsted yarn – white, yellow and tan/ivory (desired color for face).

Size G crochet hook

Fiberfil

Rattle insert (column rattles fit better)

Yarn needle

 Directions:

Rnd 1: With tan (ivory) yarn, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook (6 sc). Do not join.

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around (12 sc).

Rnd 3-5: Work even on 12 sc.

Rnd 6: Dec around (6 st).

Rnd 7: Work even on 6 sc. Join. Fasten off.

Rnd 8: Attach white yarn. 2 sc in each st around (12 st).

Rnd 9: *Sc in next 3 st, 2 sc next st,* repeat twice (15 st).

Rnd 10: Work even on 15 sc.

Rnd 11: *Sc in next 4 st, inc next st,* repeat twice (18 sc).

Rnd 12: Work even on 18 sc.

Rnd 13: *Sc in next 5 st, inc next st,* repeat twice (21 sc).

Rnd 14: Work even on 21 sc.

Rnd 15: *Sc in next 6 sc, inc,* repeat twice (24 sc).

Rnd 16: Work even on 24 sc.

Rnd 17: *Sc in next 7 sc, inc,* repeat twice (27 sc).

Rnd 18: Work even on 27 sc.

Rnd 19: *Sc in next 8 sc, inc,* repeat twice (30 sc).

Rnd 20: Work even on 30 sc. Join with sl st.

Rnd 21: Working through back loops only, *sc, dec,* repeat around (20 sc). Stuff with Fiberfil and rattle insert.

Rnd 22: Working in both loops, *sc, dec,* repeat until closed. Fasten off.

Return to unused loop of Rnd 21. *Sc, sk 1 st, 4 dc in next st, sk 1 st,* repeat around. Join with sl st. Weave in all ends.

Wings:

Rnd 1: With yellow yarn, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join with sl st.

Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as 1st dc), 1 dc in same sc, 2 dc in each of next 2 st. Leave remaining 3 st unworked. Ch 3, turn.

Row 3: Dc in 1st st, *2 dc next st, dc next st,* repeat, 2 dc in top of ch-3. Fasten off. Repeat Rows 2-3 on unworked sc of Rnd 1. Sew to back of angel. Weave in ends.

Handle:

Rnd 1: With yellow or gold yarn, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Do not join.

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each ch around (12 sc).

Rnd 3: *Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st,* repeat around (18 sc).

Rnd 4: *Sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st,* repeat around (24 sc).

Rnds 5-6: Work even on 24 sc.

Rnd 7: *Dec, sc next 2 sts,* repeat around (18 sc).

Rnd 8: *Dec, sc,* repeat around (12 sc).

Continue to work even on 12 sc until handle measures 3.5”. Join, end off yarn leaving 12” length for sewing. Stuff handle firmly with fiberfill and sew to bottom of angel. Sew at least 2 times around the handle to make sure it is secure.

Flashlight Shaped Baby Rattle Crochet Pattern

The Flashlight Baby Rattle Crochet Pattern uses a baby aspirin bottle filled with beans and yarn from your scrap basket to make a cute little toy that any baby will love!

Materials:

Small amounts of worsted weight yarn in desired colors

Size G crochet hook

Fiberfil

Yarn needle

Small plastic baby aspirin bottle and lid (washed thoroughly) filled with a few beans

Directions:

Body: Rnd 1: With CC yarn, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Do not join.

Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around (12 sc).

Rnd 3: *Work 1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat from * around (18 sc).

Rnd 4: *Work 1 sc in each of next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat from * around (24 sc).

Rnd 5: *Work 1 sc in each of next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat from * around (30 sc). Join. End off CC.

Rnd 6: Join MC yarn. Working in back loops only, sc in each sc around. Do not join. Work even on 30 sc until the MC portion measures the same length as the pill bottle, then work another 4 rows of sc.  End off.

Lens: With white yarn, repeat Rnds 1-5 of body. End off leaving length for sewing. Add a few beans to the pill bottle to make rattle noise. Seal and place inside body of flashlight, surrounding bottle with fiberfill. Sew lens to open end of body and weave in ends.

Lens cover: Row 1: With CC yarn, ch 4, sc in 2nd ch from hook and next 2 ch. Ch 1, turn.

Row 2: Working in back loops only, sc in each sc. Ch 1 turn. Repeat Row 2 until piece measures long enough to wrap around flashlight body (approximately 30 rows). End off leaving length for sewing. Sew around end of flashlight where body meets lens.

Handle: Rnd 1: With CC yarn, leave length for sewing, ch 8, join. Sc in each ch around. Do not join.

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each ch around (8 sc). Continue to work even on 8 sc until handle measures approximately 4”. Join, end off yarn leaving 12” length for sewing. Stuff handle firmly with fiberfill and sew each end to top of flashlight.

SPIRAL OPTION:

Work body as above until you complete first 5 rounds. On Rnd 6, *work 1 sc white, 1 sc blue, repeat from *. Increase 1 sc on Rnd 6 so that you have an odd number of stitches (31 sc). Repeat this pattern until body reaches desired length.
