Pinata Gift Bag Crochet Pattern

 

Materials:

Worsted weight yarn:

20 yards green

15 yards pink

15 yards aqua

15 yards teal

15 yards purple

Size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook

 

Gift bag measures approximately 4” tall.

Gauge: 8 sc = 2”, 8 rows = 2”

 STITCHES:

Loop stitch: Insert hook into first stitch. Make sure working yarn is looped around 1 finger (2 fingers for a longer loop). Hook both strands of yarn. Pull both strands through stitch. Yarn over and pull through all three loops.

DIRECTIONS:

Rnd 1: With green yarn, ch 2 (or magic circle), 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook (6 sc).

Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each st (12 sc).

Rnd 3: Ch 1, *sc in sc, 2 sc in next sc,* repeat around (18 sc).

Rnd 4: Ch 1, *sc in sc, 2 sc in next sc,* repeat around (24 sc).

Rnd 5: Ch 1, *sc in 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc,* repeat around (30 sc). Join with sl st.

Rnd 6: Ch 1, turn, *lp st in next 4 sc, 2 lp st in next sc,* repeat around (36 lp sts). Join with sl st. Fasten off green.

Rnd 7: Join pink yarn, ch 1, turn, *sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc in next st,* repeat around (42 sc). Join with sl st.

Rnd 8: Ch 1, turn, lp st in each sc. Join with sl st. Fasten off pink.

Rnd 9: Join teal yarn, ch 1, turn, sc in each st. Join with sl st.

Rnd 10: Ch 1, turn, lp st in each sc. Join with sl st. Fasten off teal.

Rnd 11: Join yellow yarn, ch 1, turn, sc in each st. Join with sl st.

Rnd 12: Ch 1, turn, lp st in each sc. Join with sl st. Fasten off yellow.

Rnd 13: Join purple yarn, ch 1, turn, sc in each st. Join with sl st.

Rnd 14: Ch 1, turn, lp st in each sc. Join with sl st. Fasten off purple.

Rnd 15: Join green yarn, ch 1, turn, sc in each st. Join with sl st.

Rnd 16: Ch 1, turn, lp st in each sc. Join with sl st. Fasten off green.

Rnd 17: Join pink yarn, ch 1, turn, *inv dec, sc in 4 sts,* repeat around (30 sc). Join with sl st.

Rnd 18: Ch 1, turn, lp st in each sc. Join with sl st. Fasten off pink.

Rnd 19: Join teal yarn, ch 1, turn, *inv dec, sc in 3 sts,* repeat around (24 sc). Join with sl st.

Rnd 20: Ch 1, turn, lp st in each sc. Join with sl st. Fasten off teal.

Rnd 21: Join yellow yarn, ch 1, turn, sc in each st, join with sl st.

Rnd 22: Ch 1, *sc in next st, ch 1, sk 8 st,* repeat around. Join with sl st. Fasten off yellow.

Drawstring:

With yellow yarn, ch 70. Fasten off. With yarn needle, thread drawstring through skipped sts of Rnd 22. Tie in a bow. Knot ends of drawstring and trim close to knot.

Easter Advent – Miscellaneous Patterns

Celebrating the Last Day of Easter Advent with Joyful Crochet

As the sun rises on Easter morning and we rejoice in the hope and renewal this season brings, what better way to celebrate the final day of Easter Advent than with the joy of handmade crochet?

Whether you’ve been counting down the days with thoughtful stitches or you’re just looking for a few special finishing touches, today is the perfect time to reflect, rejoice, and create something beautiful.

Thanks for joining us on this crochet journey.  I hope you have enjoyed the beautiful designs that have been shared here by so many great indie designers. Today we feature a few designs that didn’t fit into any of the previous categories.

Duck Bath Mitt

Materials:

I Love This Cotton worsted weight yarn:

30 yards Curry

5 yards orange

4 yards white

2 yards black

Yarn Bee Scrub-ology cotton

50 yards yellow

Size G (4.0 mm) crochet hook

Yarn needle

Finished bath mitt measures approximately 9” tall by 8” wide (including tail and bill).

Gauge:  9 sc = 2”, 10 rows = 2” for ILTC yarn. Scrub-ology yarn may be slightly different; changing hook size will help.

Directions:

Row 1: With ILTC Curry yarn, ch 24, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each remaining ch (23 sc).

Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st.

Row 3: Ch 1, turn, inc in first st, sc across (24 sc).

Row 4: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st.

Rows 5-16: Repeat Rows 3-4 six times (30 sc at end of Row 16).

Rows 17-21: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st.

Row 22: (begin to form tail) Ch 1, turn, sc across, dec over last 2 sts (29 sc).

Row 23: Ch 1, turn, sc in first 6 sts, leave remaining sts unworked.

Row 24: Ch 1, turn, dec, sc in next 2 sts, dec (4 sc).

Row 25: Ch 1, turn, dec twice (2 sc).

Row 26: Ch 1, turn, dec (1 sc). Fasten off yarn.

Return to unworked sts of Row 22. Sk 2 sts.

Row 23: Attach yarn in 3rd st, ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next 20 sts (21 sc).

Rows 24-30: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st.

Row 31: Ch 1, turn, dec, sc across (20 sc).

Rows 32-38: Repeat Row 31 (13 sc at end of Row 38).

Rows 39-40: Ch 1, turn, dec, sc across, dec (9 sc). Fasten off leaving 12” length for sewing.

Repeat Rows 1-40 using Scrub-ology yarn.

Eyes: (Make 2)

Rnd 1: With white yarn, ch 5, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 2 ch, 3 sc in last ch. Working on opposite site of starting ch, sc in next 2 ch, 2 sc in last ch (10 sc). Do not join.

Rnd 2: 2 sc in first st, sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next 3 sts, sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in last 2 sts (16 sc). Join with sl st. Fasten off leaving 9” length for sewing.

Pupil:

Rnd 1: With black yarn, ch 2 (or magic ring), 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join with sl st. Fasten off leaving 5” length. Sew pupil to bottom half of eye.

Sew eyes to body at Rows 29-35 approximately 3 sts from edge. Make 1 white straight st in edge of pupil.

With right sides tog, sew 2 body pieces tog. If one side is slightly larger than the other, pin tog and ease to fit while sewing.

Edging: Attach ILTC Curry to Row 1 at seam. Ch 1, sc in each unused lp of starting ch on both sides. Join with sl st. Fasten off yarn. Weave in all ends.

Bill:

Rnd 1: With orange yarn, ch 2 (or magic ring), 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Do not join. Work in continuous rnds throughout bill.

Rnd 2: *Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st,* repeat around (9 sc).

Rnd 3: 2 sc in next 3 sts, sc in next 6 sts (12 sc).

Rnd 4: 2 sc in next 4 sts, sc in next 8 sts (16 sc).

Rnds 5-6: Sc in each st. Join with sl st at end of Rnd 6. Fasten off yarn leaving 10” length for sewing.

Sew bill to duck at Rows 23-29.
