Owl Christmas Ornament
Did you crochet an Owl Eyeglass Holder last year? I have reworked the design to be smaller so it can be used as a Christmas ornament. This is a lovely introduction to the crocodile stitch, and there’s a YouTube tutorial to help you learn it. https://youtu.be/HN_SNZDW21w
Materials:
Sport or baby weight yarn
65 yards ombre or variegated
40 yards solid
1 yard yellow
Size C or E crochet hook
Yarn needle
Plastic googly eyes 40 mm
Fiberfil
Pantyhose
Using E hook, owl measures 4.5” tall. Using C hook, owl measures 3.5” tall.
Special Stitches:
V-stitch: dc, ch 1, dc in same sp
Crocodile st: Working around the post of the first dc of V-stitch of previous rnd, work 5 dc around this post. Turn to work on other side of V-stitch. Work 5 dc around 2nd post of V-stitch.

Preemie Crochet Challenge 2021
We’re coming to the end of the Preemie Crochet Challenge with only 2 days left. Each day during August, Sunflower Cottage Crochet has featured a new baby crochet pattern by an indie designer. For each pattern you download, we are asking for one item to be donated to a charity for preemies or hospital of your choice. I am honored to have one of my designs selected as the featured pattern today.
HOW DOES THE CHALLENGE WORK?
- Each day at 8am London time, the blog post will be updated with that day’s featured pattern.
- I will give you the code and links you need. If the designer has a blog, you will be directed there for more information about the pattern; if not you will be taken directly to Ravelry.
- You will decide if you would like that pattern.
- By accepting the free PDF download, you are pledging to donate at least one made item from that pattern to a Preemie charity/organization/NICU/family of your choosing.
- The patterns below will be categorized as the event progresses to make it easier for you to establish which patterns are still available, which are available free on the designers blog, and which are now only paid patterns. The first pattern will be the featured pattern for that day.
