Zoo Blog Hop Day 24 – Elephants

🐘 Big Ears, Big Charm: Adorable Elephant Crochet Patterns to Try

Elephants are known for their gentle hearts, strong bonds, and unmistakable charm — and in the world of crochet, they’re just as lovable! Whether you’re creating a sweet baby gift, decorating a nursery, or stitching up your own safari collection, elephant crochet patterns are always a favorite.

From floppy-eared plushies to tiny pocket pachyderms, there’s an elephant pattern for every crafter and every occasion.

🧶 Why Crochet an Elephant?

Elephants are more than just cute — they symbolize wisdom, memory, and family. That makes them a thoughtful choice for:

  • Baby showers & new baby gifts

  • Nursery décor

  • Birthday presents for little animal lovers

  • Elephant lovers and wildlife supporters

Plus, they’re the perfect canvas for experimenting with soft yarns, pastel palettes, and adorable accessories.

🧵 Yarn & Color Ideas

  • Use soft cotton or plush yarns for baby-friendly textures

  • Try classic gray, or go colorful with pinks, blues, or rainbow pastels

  • Variegated yarn makes fun ears and blankets!

Whether you’re new to amigurumi or a seasoned pro, there’s a pattern for every skill level — complete with step-by-step instructions and helpful photos.

🌿 Stitch Up Something Special

Crocheting an elephant is more than just making a toy — it’s about creating a keepsake full of warmth and love. Whether it’s for a baby’s first friend, a heartfelt handmade gift, or just for fun, elephant patterns are a big win.

Have you crocheted an elephant before? Share your favorite pattern or show off your herd on social media with #ElephantCrochetLove!

Elzo the crochet elephant is such a cute little guy. With his striped swim shorts, he is ready to cool off from a hot summer’s day.

If you’re looking for an easy crochet elephant pattern, you will love this guy! The legs and body of this crochet elephant are crocheted in one piece. And even better? You can crochet the arms, tusks, and trunk into your elephant too, so that you just have to sew on the tail and ears! While this elephant is not a no sew amigurumi pattern, it certainly isn’t very sewing intensive!

One of my favorite things about this amigurumi elephant pattern are the ears. Oh those ears! They’re big and floppy and so cute!

Can’t you just picture this little cutie sitting on a shelf in a nursery? So adorable!

This design from Willow Crochet is a very easy crochet pattern, and you’ll only require about 70 yards of grey yarn in dk weight – I used Stylecraft special DK (Graphite) but you can use any brand you like. Once complete this little elephant will only be about 4 inches tall so it’s also a fairly quick project. As with all of my amigurumi patterns I’ve used The Craft Factory Toy Eyes Solid Black – 9mm, you can of course use any toy eyes or black yarn to embroider some eyes on.

Zoo Blog Hop Day 22 – Zebra

zebra crochet patterns

I love the contrast between black and white on a zebra, so it’s a favorite subject of my crochet designs. Today we have an adorable zebra amigurumi pattern that would be so cute worked in scrap yarn. There’s also a quick and easy zebra coin purse using black and white ombre yarn so you don’t have to worry about the zebra’s stripes.
