Valentine’s Day Bat Amigurumi

valentine bat

Is everyone ready for the cold weather that is about to sweep over most of the United States? My pantry is stocked, and I have plenty of firewood, so I’m ready for some cozy crochet time. It’s February, so it’s time to work on Valentine’s Day gifts. One of my bat patterns from Halloween is still a consistent download, so I came up with a cute little bat with heart-shaped wings and heart-shaped ears. This little sweetie only takes a few hours (I made one in an evening) and will make the perfect gift for your littles or for your significant other. I used acrylic yarn, but feel free to use up your stash of Valentine colors. Stay warm everyone!

Finished Bat measures approximately 4.5” tall by 8” wide (including wings)

Rnd 16: *Dec, sc in next 4 sc,* repeat around (30 sc).

Rnd 17:*Dec, sc in next 3 sc,* repeat around

(24 sc). Join with sl st.

Rnd 18: *Sc, ch 1, skip 1 sc,* repeat around. Join with sl st. Fasten off.

Drawstring: Make a chain 12″ long and knot both ends. Pull through loops made in Rnd 18.

WINGS: (Make 2)

Row 1: Ch 14, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 5 ch, 3 sc in next ch, sc in next 6 ch (15 sc).

Rows 3-4: Repeat Row 2.

Row 5: Repeat Row 2, working sts over a pipe cleaner (held in back of the sts on one wing and in front of the sts on the other wing). Fasten off leaving 12” length. Sew wings to sides of bat at Rnds 7-14.

Weave in all ends.

Sew or glue on google eyes. Fill your bat with candy!

Bat Scrubby Crochet Pattern

bat scrubby

Because of the popularity of the Bat Mask Mate Crochet Pattern that I published last year, I reworked it a little bit to make a slightly smaller bat using Scrubby yarn. These cute little bats can do double duty by adding a little spookiness to your kitchen decor and also being useful when you wash dishes. Red Heart and Yarn Bee both have soft cotton Scrubby yarn that can be used to make bats as facial scrubbers. The Scrubby Sparkle yarn is great to make a bat for your dishes.
